NEW JERSEY DIVISION OF FISH AND WILDLIFE
Congratulations New Jersey Fish And Wildlife!
The New Jersey Fish and Wildlife Digest nearly swept the Regulation Publications category in this year's national competition of Fish and Wildlife agency publications conducted by the Association for Conservation Information (ACI). The 2007 Freshwater Fishing Issue took second place in the competition and the 2006 Hunting Issue and the 2006 Marine Issue tied for third place. The second place Freshwater Fishing Issue was only six points out of a 600 point scoring system behind first place Ohio's hunting digest. This year's awards come on the heels of last year's ACI awards of first place for New Jersey's 2005 Hunting Issue and second place for the 2006 Freshwater Fishing Issue. The NJ Division of Fish and Wildlife Digest publications have clearly become the national models that many state Fish and Wildlife agencies are working to emulate. The magazine quality publications filled with informative feature articles and the requisite fishing and hunting regulatory information are the products of the collaboration between our editor, Cindy Kuenstner, our publisher, JH Griffin and the professional staff of our Bureaus of Wildlife Management, Freshwater Fisheries, Marine Fisheries and Shellfisheries. The quality of the Digest is even more impressive considering the fact that the 600,000 copies produced each year cost the Division and the hunters and anglers of New Jersey no more than the staff time devoted to each issue. Ad revenue generated by the publisher covers the cost of production and printing of every issue. Fish and Wildlife staff have worked hard to develop and maintain our no cost agreements, which we have held for 5 years with the current publisher and the previous publisher. This has resulted in the savings of hundreds of thousands of dollars during this time period. No other state in the nation currently has no cost agreements with their publishers. The New Jersey Fish and Wildlife Digest is a valuable information resource for the hunting and fishing public and an invaluable outreach tool for the Department and the Division of Fish and Wildlife. Congratulations to all the staff who contribute to the production of the Digest. Rest assured that the dedicated and hard working staff of the Division will not only maintain but continue to improve each issue of the Fish and Wildlife Digest.
