The Partin Settlement Jr. Teen Anglers have five fishing outings
scheduled. These are all public fishing derbies run by the "Fish
Orlando!" program of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation
Commission. You may bring your own gear or borrow a rod and reel from the
FFWCC trailer. If your child needs to borrow gear, please bring an ID.
Bait is provided. They are all bank fishing derbies. These are free
events. Participants have a chance to win some great prizes. All children
must be accompanied by an adult. Please see the dates, times and
directions below. Save this letter. This is the only written notification
you will receive for all five events.
Barnett Park 9/13/08 8:00am 10:00am Turnpike North to
I-4. I-4 east to SR50 (Colonial). SR50 west. Barnett Park is on the right
after the central Florida fairgrounds. Enter the park and turn right at
the next two park intersections. The pond is behind the administration
building. Travel time 35 minutes.
Blanchard Park 9/20/08 8:00am 10:00am 417 (Greenway)
north to 408. 408 east to Dean Rd. ( exit on right side). Left on Dean Rd.
Cross SR50 and turn right at Blanchard Park entrance (Little
Econlockhatchee River). Travel time 30 minutes.
Bear Creek 9/27/08 8:00am 10:00am 192 west to Simpson.
Right on Simpson. Left on Buenaventura Lakes Blvd. Left on Osceola
Parkway. Go past Wal-Mart and turn right on Old Dixie Hgwy (Orange Ave.).
Left at Cypress Creek High School (Bear Creek Rec. Complex is behind the
school). Pond is on the right side. Travel time 25 minutes
Starke Lake 10/18/08 10:00am 12:00pm Tunpike north to
Ocoee exit (SR50). Right on SR50. Left on Blueford. Right on Oakland to
lake. Park and go to FFWCC trailer. Parking can be difficult as this is
part of a big founders day event.
Lake Island Park 11/1/08 8:30am 10:30am Turnpike north
to I-4. I-4 east to Fairbanks. Right on Fairbanks. Go 1/10th
mile past 17-92 and turn left on Denning. Parking is about 1/4th
mile on left side.
During the second semester, we will hold our annual Tri-athlon for our
fishing and running clubs. We are also working on an "Earth Day"
outing at Turkey Lake which is tentatively scheduled on 4/25/08.
